Vallari Parikh Singh, Founder at The Spicy Palate

Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business?

Vallari Parikh Singh: I’ve always been in love with food. My love for eating and cooking for others comes from my grandmother, and I always noticed her cooking. Cooking was therapy for her and it reflected in the food she made. I was brought up with that notion always and therefore food and cooking is so much more than a chore for me.

During the pandemic, my jewellery business was at an all-time low and I had started sharing my food recipes and tips by the name of “The Spicy Palate” on Instagram in December 2019. Fast forwarding the next three months, I’d already done food pop-ups, set up stalls and shared valuable recipes to the first few believers. It was an experiment that made me realise my real passion.

After moving to Mumbai, the pandemic immediately hit and while I started working on my page with uploading recipes, I realized I also need to monetize it in some way. That’s when Weekend Kitchens at TSP started. Although I might not be a “Follow the Recipe to the T” kinda chef, I certainly pour my secret ingredient, which is lots of LOVE ❤

Great Companies: What are the various Services provided by The Spicy Palate

Vallari Parikh Singh: As a Cloud Kitchen, we cook and deliver tasty, flavorful vegetarian food from our Menu, at the comfort of your home. If you are hosting a party or are simply bored to cook, don’t worry we’ve got you covered! We also have a range of Premium Dips and Sauces which are a delicious and healthy addition to your munching!

Apart from our Cloud Kitchen (currently serving HOT in Mumbai), we share awesome, easy to cook and delicious recipes in different formats, suiting the ones who love cooking!

Great Companies: What makes The Spicy Palate different from hundreds of other similar service providers?

Vallari Parikh Singh:

Our USP significantly lies in how we’ve surrounded our menu to the house party segment, with the food being a memorable HIT at the party you’re hosting, without the hassle of cooking. We ensure that the best quality ingredients are used with every item, made fresh and just in time, exclusively for you.

Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face?

Vallari Parikh Singh: I do face the challenge of catering to my audience’s liking of food types and items, since food is very versatile and there’s SO much you can do!

Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for The Spicy Palate?

Vallari Parikh Singh: In the next five years, I see The Spicy Palate becoming a familiar party food brand, expanding to more cities, having a strong team of like-minded chefs and managers.

So far, TSP has 85-90% client retention, which is the biggest validation I have, and I only hope I can retain that over the years!

Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?

Vallari Parikh Singh: If you’re starting out in the food space, I'd recommend that you establish your unique identity, it may be through the type of food or through the type of content delivery and messaging. One big advice I’d give would be, don’t try to do everything in the beginning. Start small, with a niche, get known for that, and then expand in phases! You'll get more done and faster.
