Company Detail:

Re:Coded is a non-profit organization fighting unemployment by providing talent from underrepresented backgrounds in Türkiye and the Middle East with the technical skills and mindset to build sustainable careers in the digital economy. The digital economy is booming, poised to generate 90 million new jobs by 2025 and contribute 25% to global GDP by 2030. This growth opens up vast opportunities for job creation and economic development. However, without a skilled workforce that can leverage digital technologies, many countries will struggle to fully capitalize on these opportunities. At present, 70% of companies already report talent shortages in all sectors, and this scenario is likely to get worse. Meanwhile, the intertwined economic and geopolitical crises of the past three years have created greater uncertainty in labor markets, and widening disparities between developed and emerging economies. Even as a growing number of economies have begun to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, low and middle-income countries continue to face elevated unemployment. Nowhere is this challenge more pronounced than in the Middle East, North Africa, and Türkiye (MENAT). With a population of nearly 600 million, it has one of the largest numbers of young people transitioning to adulthood in the world. It is also the region with the world's highest youth unemployment rate (25%+) and lowest women's labor force participation rate (19%), resulting in an economic loss of up to USD 50 billion annually due to low labor force productivity. Interestingly, the likelihood of unemployment actually increases with higher levels of education. In order to accommodate the significant influx of youth into the workforce, this region will need to generate three hundred million fresh employment opportunities by 2050. And there is where Re:Coded comes in to help bridge address and bridge these gaps.

Specialization Product/Services:

We offer free, high-quality, market-driven coding and UX/UI bootcamps. In a mix of live online classes and asynchronous learning, cohorts of 50-75 pr. class spend five months together learning all the necessary technical and soft skills to land their first job. Students spend the last six weeks working in teams on capstone projects before they embark on their job search, with six months of support from our Alumni Success team and our global industry mentors helping them in their job search, interview prep, and career mapping. This strategy of intense skills building and career support has ensured an 86% employment rate among our graduates. We’re also offering a range of short, online upskilling courses focusing on career and soft skills, as well as introductory courses to coding, design, and data in order to build a basic understanding of what it takes to kickstart a career in the digital economy.

Unique Value Proposition:

Talent is everywhere, opportunity is not. Education systems in the MENA region are failing to keep pace with the rapidly evolving labor market, which is increasingly characterized by emerging technologies, innovation, and entrepreneurship. A PwC survey indicated that 60 percent of CEOs think that Middle Eastern education systems are falling short of equipping students with the necessary skills for employment. This is especially the case when it comes to skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, communication, and teamwork. Not only are we offering a world-class education for free built on curriculum from our partners at Flatiron School, voted the world's best coding school in 2021. In our training, we work to instill a growth mindset, guide our students towards continuous and independent learning as well as challenge them in team settings to build the necessary soft skills like project management, time management, teamwork, etc. We’re the only non-profit operating at this scale in the Middle East and we seek to expand our impact dramatically in the coming years through the implementation of generative AI allowing us to train and support even more people for more sustainable careers.

A customer’s review:

A strong and caring community of learners and trainers and high-quality education that leads to impactful employment.

Community / Society Service:

At Re:Coded we take great pride in our commitment to both education and the development of the communities we serve. We believe in the transformative power of education and our dedication goes beyond the classroom. We are delighted to give back to the communities where we offer our courses by actively hiring our talented alumni. By providing employment opportunities to our graduates, we not only help them build successful careers but also contribute to the growth and prosperity of the regions we serve. This synergy between education and local employment is at the heart of our mission to empower individuals and uplift communities.
