Raaj Nadaar, CEO at Sales Development Solutions

Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business?

Raaj Nadaar: I was heading sales teams at companies in 2014 and before, and whenever I outsourced outbound lead generation, I'd consistently face three issues: a) prospects agree to meetings but don't show up b) Prospects who show up have no context of why they are here, they are here to kill time or out of curiosity and c) this one is a killer :) prospects who show up aren't really prospects, meaning they are not high enough in the totem pole to make or even influence buying decisions.

When we did this inhouse, the results were diametrically opposite w/ a) real prospects showing up b) prospects showing up w/ context, with some rapport already built c) people who agree show up more than 90% of the time which is a good 50% above industry average. I had to take this model out to be able to serve more than just the one company I was working with at the time.

Great Companies: What are the various Services provided by Sales Development Solutions

Raaj Nadaar: Just the one - Account based sales opportunity generation from outbound, using emails and Linkedin (sometime even SMS, VM drops). We provide this service for B2B firms alone.

Great Companies: What makes Sales Development Solutions different from hundreds of other similar service providers?

Raaj Nadaar: Refer to the answer of the first question above - The prime difference is that

a) We hold ourselves accountable to the end result and
b) We shifted the goal post - from setting up meetings to creating real sales opportunities that have a shot at closing for our customers.

Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face?

Raaj Nadaar: Cash flow is our single largest issue, having to follow up for payments is an issue. We usually just let go of such customers rather than holding on to them hoping they'll change to make sure we work on projects that are symbiotic.

Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Sales Development Solutions?

Raaj Nadaar: We plan to partner with more US based sales consulting firms taking care of email and linkedin outbound for them at a higher quality than they could get it done anywhere.

Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?

Raaj Nadaar: Give it time, different businesses will take different times to become self-sustaining, but if you know what business you are getting into, you probably know what that amount of time is - 1yr, 2 yrs or 3. Stick to that timeline. If you can from the very beginning, apply EOS model to your business.
