Company Detail:

Pharsyde was founded by Tamryn Dicks in 2007. She thought that being good at accounting would naturally translate into being good at running an accounting business. She was wrong. Over time, and due to her own learning curves, burnout, failure and successes, Tamryn evolved Pharsyde, taking it from being simply an accounting firm, to being a complete business-development potheyrhouse for business owners. They are a proudly women-led business! They believe that our femininity means they are able to provide care and support, while still having the resilience and grit required to help you through the tough times. At the head, you will find Tamryn Dicks and Izelle Badenhorst – two qualified accountants who are passionate about helping small businesses succeed. Adding to their core team is Ronell Janse van Rensburg and Linda de Paiva, two strong, vibrant and amazing women who are as passionate about making a difference as they are passionate about recording the KPIs for that difference. They are a small team, but they are supported by a phenomenal team of bookkeepers, accountants, tax consultants, corporate transaction specialists, business developers, and other experts – all intent on ensuring that you get the best service with the best results. They are a small group of people who love numbers, love nature, believe in small business and want to do good in the world. They offer complete outsourced finance, supported DIY-bookkeeping and outsourced CFO services as well as having a range of coaching and training designed to help small business owners succeed.

Specialization Product/Services:

Guardian Angel Packages - these are their supported DIY service packages. They provide business owners with accounting software and give them some bookkeeping training. They do their own monthly accounting, but they pop our heads in from time-to-time (at a period of their choosing) and check that they are doing everything correctly, that they have maximised their tax efficiency and they have a meeting with them to show them how to read their financial reports and to advise them on how to improve their profitability and cashflow. If they want us to, they also do their taxes. Complete Outsourced Finance - this is when you give the bookkeeping and accounting to them. They still provide some bookkeeping and accounting training, but that is so that their clients can understand the reports they give them - and double check their work. They handle complete compliance for their clients from bookkeeping to payroll to taxes. Outsourced CFO services - The chief financial officer CFO) holds the top financial position in an organisation. They are responsible for tracking cash flow, for financial planning and for analysing the company’s financial strengths (and weaknesses) and for proposing strategic direction. They are extremely valuable – and as such, they earn very, very big salaries. Salaries that small businesses normally can’t afford. They offer the option of a part-time outsourced CFO, or access to CFO services, they have Cashflow Improvement Packages, Profitability Enhancement Package and Performance Management Packages, all designed to help small businesses achieve big business growth.

Unique Value Proposition:

Firstly, they bill differently. They do not charge per hour, which is unusual in their industry. But they believe that billing per hour results in too much uncertainty for the client. And then, they do not charge per job. They spend a lot of time sitting with you in the beginning to find out everything they need to know about your business and what it is that you need from them. Then they use that information to determine ALL the services you are going to need from them for the entire year, and then they give you a fixed monthly fee that covers everything. No surprise bills, ever. Secondly, they let our clients choose the service levels they want from them. Every single service they offer comes in three package options: Sustain, Grow and Thrive. All three get you exactly what you need, all deadlines met, all compliance covered. But Grow and Thrive give you more. On a Grow package, Pharsyde Accounting does a lot more hand-holding and spend a lot more time ensuring that you understand your numbers and that you are using them effectively. On Thrive, they treat your business as though its their business – they become one of your partners, not just a service provider. And thirdly, their focus isn't on the numbers. They're very good with numbers and you WILL get excellent accounting from them. But their focus is on YOU. Their focus is on making sure you use those numbers to build the future you are hoping for. Their clients are all small businesses, most of whom know absolutely nothing about business. They are excellent at what they do and they had no idea that opening a business requires more than that. So in addition to good accounting, they also offer training and coaching services to all of our clients. Some free and some discounted. They have a business-building course, a support platform and they run burnout prevention programmes on a regular basis. They believe that their client's success IS their success, so they do everything they can to enable their clients to build viable and profitable businesses.

Community / Society Service:

Pharsyde Accounting gives back in two ways. They have our own non-Profit, Pharsyde Foundations which "helps the women of South Africa build the foundations of their future" Foundations offers financial support for women wanting to study further in the area of business, women who have opened their own business and are low on funds can apply to attend our courses and programmes for free and if they have supported you in your studies, they also try and find a job for you in our network. Then they are a B1G1 company, so they have giving actions linked to our everyday business activities. For every invoice they issue, they feed five people. For every statutory return they submit, they plant a tree. For every set of financial statements they create, they provide ten days of education in the world - and so on. All of these giving actions are run through the B1G1 platform and our total impacts can be seen on our website. They are - in general - extremely open to collaboration, they believe that collaboration is the future. As such, they very rarely refuse to offer free services or advice to a worthwhile organisation or cause.
