Great Companies: Please tell me something about the business and how did you come up with such an idea? Mrunmayi Avachat: So my business has 2 two verticals.: 1) Handwoven textiles and 2) Made to Measure services for creating customised outfits It started with idea of Supporting the dying arts and crafts of our country. Well, that's the need of the hour. I wanted to support the artisans with fair prices when I saw their financial state. They had limited resources to adapt their products to the urban preferences .. it was shocking to see none of their children persuing that art further. So I started working with these handloom weavers to create smaller collection of fabrics and sarees but that will suit the Urban taste. For customised outfits - Everyone aspires to design and create outfits for slim pretty women with perfect toned bodies.. while the others find it tough to get the right fits and customised designs. So I wanted to cater to women in all body types, ages, sizes, and ages and particularly be inclusive to cater to XXL or obese women, women with deformed bodies due to medical issues. It also addresses the requirements of working women who have no time for themselves. I was more drawn to cater to the women with low self-esteem and others with limitations in shopping ready-made outfits to the interview questions.
Great Companies: What are the various services and products provided by your company? Mrunmayi Avachat: As I mentioned I have 2 business verticals : 1) Exclusive Handwoven fabrics and sarees that are created and procured directly from the weavers to offer them FAIR PRICES. These are adapted to Urban preferences.
2) Made to Measure : Customised designer outfits that are designed and created as per the individual's body type, personality and occasion
Great Companies: Why should one choose you over others in this field? Mrunmayi Avachat: Honestly I think its the customer experience in our studio that binds our customers!!! For handloom products its authencity blended with Urban preferences makes it relevant for the customers to choose my product range. For the made to measure the team's prompt service and detailing in the outfits that are created as per an individual’s requirement.
Great Companies: What are the struggles and challenges you face?
Mrunmayi Avachat: Mindset of customers who look down at our indigenous crafts. If we are not proud of our skills we will never work on conserving them low moral of the weaver's handloom products take longer production time to replenish for the season's demands.
For made to measure the biggest challenge is customers not willing to be open about trying new ideas.
Great Companies: What do you think are the few main things which are most important for a successful business? Mrunmayi Avachat: First and foremost - the offering that is your service or product needs to be true to its value proposed. Relationships with customers and staff/ team and vendors play a vital role. With challenging times it important to be open to rethink and adapt the ways of doing business.
