Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business?
Matt Vincent: Growing up in the High Country of North Carolina, we saw a need for a more professional construction company that not only does quality work, but also does a great job communicating internally and with our clients.
Great Companies: What are the various services provided by VPC Builders, LLC.?
Matt Vincent: VPC Builders is a medium sized full-service firm specializing in commercial & residential construction, high performance building & remodeling in NC, SC, & TN with a focus on fine homes. As a turnkey construction company, we offer design & drafting, project management, interior design, and Home Watch ™ services for our clients.
Great Companies: What makes VPC Builders, LLC. different from hundreds of other similar service providers?
Matt Vincent: Our use of technology & continuous training of our team enhances communication, sets proper expectations, and delivers consistent, high-quality projects. Internally, multiple project managers, estimators, sales professionals, general supervisors, managers, & administrators have defined organizational roles with flexibility to meet the needs of the company and leverage individual strengths which allows us to handle upwards of a hundred projects at a time, unlike our smaller scaled counterparts.
Great Companies: What were the struggles and challenges you faced and how did you overcome them?
Matt Vincent: VPC Builders biggest challenge was growing a company with a very limited workforce in an area that relies heavily on tourism, second home buyers, and higher education. VPC Builders goes above and beyond to offer compensation packages, benefits, and company perks like company trucks and fun outings like whitewater rafting trips which get us noticed as a great place to work. In 2023, we won the Best Employers to Work for by Business NC and the Great Employers to Work for by Best Companies Group.
Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for VPC Builders, LLC.?
Matt Vincent: In 2023, we anticipate overall revenues to grow by 30% from the year before. The pandemic worked in our favor, as many consumers were ready to buy a second home or relocate to areas of scenic beauty and abundant outdoor activities. To buffer the challenges of our region (weather, topography, transportation costs, limited local suppliers, material management, labor costs) VPC Builders will continue to break into new markets in new areas while offering new services. Our five-year plan is to have other office locations with additional targeted services.
Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?
Matt Vincent: Work hard, work smart, and surround yourself with people that can help you.
