Great Companies: How did you get your idea or concept for the business?
Deepak Kumar Singh: I served with various organizations between 1994 and 2016. My last job with Honeywell lasted over 13 years. In Honeywell, Business Continuity was an integral part of my job profile. Herein, at a very nascent stage, the realization with respect to the ever-increasing importance and enormity of the twin domains of Business Continuity and Resiliency, set in. I found these domains extremely interesting and was able to visualize, correlate, plan and execute Business Continuity models for a number of practical scenarios within Honeywell. The fact that I was able to utilize the theoretical policies, guidelines and SOPs to implement Business Continuity in Honeywell’s operations, quite effectively and efficiently, gave me immense confidence and satisfaction.
Once the ISO 22301 BCMS Standard certification was obtained for Honeywell, the next logical question staring me was - WHAT NEXT? Continuing with Honeywell would have been a cakewalk. It would have merely entailed regular monitoring, maintenance and time to time updating of the already established model; implying working within the confines of my comfort zone. For someone who thrived on picking-up challenges, it was this feeling of not being challenged enough, this prospect of getting stagnated that was utterly discomforting.
In pursuit of newer horizons, greater challenges, and further growth, I decided in January 2016 to venture out, explore the immense possibilities of these rapidly expanding domains and use my repertoire of knowledge, skill and expertise to help other professionals and organizations.
After due deliberations and numerous brainstorming sessions, I decided to take a plunge into the field of GOvernance, RISk and COmpliance to take care of risks, compliance, business continuity and resiliency requirements of organizations, companies and conglomerates looking at establishing cutting edge policies and operations.
I quit Honeywell on 22 nd of April 2016 to start GORISCO on 30th April 2016 (already a special day since it happens to be my Wedding Anniversary). The name GORISCO emanating from the three chosen fields of it’s operations i.e., “GOvernance”, “RISk” and “COmpliance”.
So, that’s how I embarked upon this exhilarating journey. Today, with 7 years rigorous experience under its belt, GORISCO, through focused crystal-clear vision, unparalleled raw energy, and innovation infusing fresh blood has been catapulting itself and its esteemed Clients to ever increasing heights of resilience and resilience generated success.
To further enhance our flexibility of operations and accessibility to esteemed Clients across the planet, during second half of 2022, GORISCO started exploring the idea of setting up an entity outside India. After thorough analysis of market conditions and demand, we decided to set it up in USA. It’s a real delight to inform you that Q1 2023 saw incorporation of ‘GORISCO LLC’ as a legally registered company in Colorado State of USA.

Great Companies: What makes Gorisco Group different from hundreds of other similar service providers?
Deepak Kumar Singh: Three words - STRONG, IMPECCABLE EXECUTION!!! One might have the best of visionaries, strategists, planners and the entire catalogue of required infrastructure, but without the capability and expertise to execute, dreams will remain a dream! Apart from all else, it is this capability and expertise of impeccable execution that GORISCO brings to the table for its clients.
Owing to its strong connect and deep understanding of the practical aspects of the domains that it works in, the deliverables of GORISCO do not conform to any template-based approach and is invariably unique, distinct and microscopically-specific to the requirements of the Client. Delving deep into an organisation’s goals, processes, operations and internal as well as external dynamics, GORISCO designs, plans and executes organisation centric models, propelling it’s success and growth.
Little wonder, we have received some amazingly encouraging, candid and rave reviews and feedback from our esteemed Clients. Compliments confirming GORISCO deliverables being better than those from some of the BIG 4’s do boost our motivation levels to stratospheric heights.
Another important aspect is that GORISCO sees itself as a one stop solution in Resiliency. Hence, our tag line says ‘Embedding Resilience’. Finally, we are entirely driven by the needs and aspirations of our esteemed Clients - less focused on profit and earnings but more on Values that our endeavours would create for them. This is precisely the reason why we at GORISCO, don’t believe in separate Sales & Marketing Team. We believe that the best people to interact with our customers/ potential customers are those who are actually executing the projects on ground. Thus we ensure that there exists no dichotomy between what the ‘Tongue; promises and what the ‘Hand’ executes! In GORISCO, the only thing that we don’t serve our esteemed Clients is FALSE PROMISES!
Great Companies: What were the struggles and challenges you faced and how did you overcome them?
Deepak Kumar Singh: Well, that’s a long story. Will probably need an entire book to narrate (I do plan to write one... but that is still a few years in future). However, let me try and give a gist. The foremost challenge was to cope with an almost instantaneous loss of identity. One day, I was an exceedingly well appreciated Honeywell Leader, the next I was a no one. Suddenly, all the respect, identity, visibility, goodwill and power vanished in thin air. I found myself standing at the START LINE yet again. I needed to rebuild everything, including my life, from scratch. However never, even for once, did my belief in myself waver. With dogged determination I kept moving ahead on this chosen journey. Notwithstanding, in view of the availability of minimal funds and meagre resources at my disposal; and keeping enormity of the task in mind, I gave myself a time period of 3 years. If, by then, I don’t see a light at the other end, I would revert to jobs.
I’m not a sales and marketing kind of guy. My introverted temperament came across as a big challenge. How do I sell? How do I reach out to people? How do I tell them what do I do or what all can I do? I started pushing myself to shed my inhibitions and to become proactive. Very soon I was talking to people and reaching out to whosoever was willing to listen. Initial opportunities came through people who knew me and had immense faith in my capabilities and expertise. Good work does have the habit of announcing itself to the world! So, word of mouth recommendations, referrals, goodwill and recognitions followed, working wonders for us; and by the grace of Almighty, this amazing trend continues till date.
Great Companies: How do you plan to grow in the future? What does 5 years down the line look like for Gorisco Group?
Deepak Kumar Singh: Despite being in our infancy, we have been taking rapid strides and garnered quite a reputation in our chosen domain. As a good student of my domain, though I can predict with reasonable accuracy as to where GORISCO is likely to be in the next 5 years, but frankly, few things are best kept close to one’s heart. Such things are better left for the fourth dimension i.e., time, to gradually unravel, obviously to the accompanied cheer of everyone involved and everyone around.
Great Companies: If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?
Deepak Kumar Singh: I would say that the most important things for any entrepreneur are (the order will vary for different situations and conditions):-
Believe in yourself
Execute differently - but efficiently and effectively
Integrity will take you the distance
Have patience
You will definitely fall, and will fall yet again, but be undeterred, be shameless, get up and start running yet again to chase your dreams
Best wishes to you and Gorisco Solutions.
