Company Details
Anuradha Chadha, founded the 3A Clothing Company in 2004, with state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Udyog Vihar, Gurgaon, and scaled it to new heights. Anu brings more than 25 years of in-depth experience in the international fashion industry and trend forecasting. 3A Clothing Company exports fashion apparel and accessories to the overseas markets, and regularly participates in industry trade shows in India, US, and Europe. The Company is also a registered vendor to Walmart, and supplies to many European fashion retail chains. Additionally, the Company runs a business incubator for emerging women entrepreneurs in the apparel, lifestyle, and home furnishings segments. This initiative has the track record of being successful and fosters the necessary business skillsets among aspirant women who are keen to be financially self-sufficient, and are motivated to be groomed to scale their own enterprises and startups.
What challenges have you overcome to reach where you are now
Anu started the business as a single parent to empower her two daughters. Today, when both her daughters have successful careers and are independent, Anu runs the business, which trains and empowers the women who work in her factory, 85% of the workforce. These women are breadwinners in their homes, and are able to provide a stable environment for their families as well as are able to educate their children. In turn, the women working in the factory, empower the women of Europe and the U.S., to look beautiful in the fashion goods they manufacture. So the whole journey, starts with women and ends with women. The Company also works with small scale and cottage industries across India, empowering local weavers in rural areas, promoting their textile specialties internationally. The fabric they weave ends up in scarves and garments that the Company manufactures.
What message you want to give for other aspiring women entrepreneurs
In Anuradha’s own words, “It has been a wonderful and extremely gratifying journey, which not only has allowed me to follow my passion for fashion and lifestyle brands but also has given me ample opportunity of training, mentoring, and employing several women of Gurgaon. At this juncture of my life, I can easily count myself among one of the few women in this City to have not only successfully run the Company which has served top notch clients in India and abroad, but have also had the chance to nurture and scale up my business in an era when the concept of women entrepreneurship and mentorship was almost nonexistent. Two decades back, businesses were supposed to be the fiefdom of men only, but not anymore, thanks to the rise of Internet, education, purchasing power, and efficient distribution channels.”
To what do you attribute your success
The key reason I attribute to my success is 'Purpose and Mission.' As a single parent, my key purpose was to empower myself so that I could raise my children, get them the best education, and make them confident and self-sufficient. I combined my purpose and mission, with the blessings of God due to my strong spiritual practice, and the blessings of my parents, who stood like a rock with me during my tough times, and also nurtured my children as I became a bread winner, after a difficult marriage. As my business became successful, I tied my purpose and empowerment with the women I hired, who hailed from rural areas in UP and Bihar. I provided them a safe and clean environment to work, provided them jobs, and trained them to perform their tasks in our factory. They also reach out to me for counseling when they face challenges in their lives. At this juncture in my life, I leverage my empowerment to empower and give guidance to those who come in my sphere of influence.
